Many Canadians want to see their country as the 51st state of the United States: Trump

Many residents of neighboring Canada want their country to become the 51st state of the United States. If Canada merges with the U.S., it won't have to pay any trade tariffs, and taxes will also be reduced. U.S. President-elect Donald Trump made this statement yesterday on his social media platform Truth Social after Justin Trudeau announced his resignation from the position of Prime Minister of Canada. Trudeau's popularity had significantly declined due to various political and economic issues in Canada. Amid the country's economic turmoil, Trump recently announced that after taking office on January 20, he would impose a 25% tariff on goods imported from Canada.

Following Trudeau's resignation announcement yesterday amidst political instability, Donald Trump poked fun at him. He wrote on Truth Social that many Canadians want their country to become the 51st state of the U.S. Trump mentioned the significant trade deficit between the U.S. and Canada and the subsidies required to keep Canada afloat, which the U.S. can no longer bear. He claimed that Trudeau was aware of this, which is why he resigned. Trump noted in his post that Canada would receive various benefits if it merged with the U.S. He stated that tariffs would be reduced, and taxes would decrease as well. Additionally, Ottawa would be safe from the constant threats posed by Russian and Chinese ships surrounding Canada. Together, the U.S. and Canada would form a great nation.

After leading Canada for nine years, Trudeau announced that he would also step down as the leader of the Liberal Party amidst dissatisfaction. According to his announcement, Trudeau will remain as Prime Minister until the Liberal Party selects a new leader. The date for the internal party election to choose the new leader will be determined by the party.
